YouTube TV raises prices again: Here are 4 alternative streaming

YouTube TV has once again raised its prices.

As of June 30, the live TV streaming service will now charge $64.99 per month. This comes after a previous price increase in April.

“We don’t take these decisions lightly, and realize how hard this is for our members,” VP of Product Management Christian Oestlien said in a statement. “That said, this new price reflects the rising cost of content and we also believe it reflects the complete value of YouTube TV, from our breadth of content to the features that are changing how we watch live TV.”

YouTube TV is adding several new channels, including BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land and VH1.

For those cord-cutters who do not want to pay the price increase, there are a number of alternative streaming services offering similar value at a lower price:

The benefits: Philo is remarkably inexpensive for the amount of content it offers, with 58 live channels, the ability to stream from three devices simultaneously and a 30-day DVR with unlimited space. Subscribers will also have access to thousands of movies and TV series on-demand.

The cost: $20 per month. There are several available packages that include premium channels, like Epix and Starz, for an additional cost.

Free trials: The service offers a seven-day free trial that doesn’t require any credit card information for the first two days. Signing up is as simple as entering a phone number.

The benefits: Sling TV offers access to thousands of hours of on-demand content in addition to dozens of live TV channels with a high degree of choice. Sling Blue, for example, carries 45 live channels, a free cloud DVR system and the ability to use the service on up to three screens simultaneously.

Free trials: Sling TV offers a 3-day free trial with most of its usual features.

The benefits: Hulu has long been a power player in the cord-cutting industry. The streaming service’s live TV platform offers 60 channels, over 1,000 shows and the option to stream from two screens simultaneously.

The cost: $54.99 per month. It includes access to Hulu’s streaming library, as well. For a commercial-free option when watching on-demand, the price rises to $64.99

The benefits: Fubo is considered the ultimate live TV streaming service for anyone seeking to cut the cord. With a subscription, you get access to about 109 channels (depending on your local area), 30 hours of DVR space and tons of on-demand content, mainly featuring episodes of shows that have aired in recent weeks. Fubo also just agreed to a deal to add ABC and ESPN, as well.
